Early Development Programs

Tykes Soccer (Ages 3–4)

Our youngest players begin with movement-based soccer activities that focus on:

  • Motor skill development

  • Balance and coordination

  • Fun games with a ball

  • Introduction to teamwork

At this age, the focus is joy and movement, not competition.

Mini Kickers (U6)

Mini Kickers introduces players to the fundamentals of soccer through:

  • Ball mastery

  • Dribbling and turning

  • Small-sided games

  • Basic teamwork concepts

Sessions are designed to keep players active, engaged, and smiling while learning the basics of the game.

Rookies (U8)

The Rookies program is the bridge between introductory soccer and structured play.

Players begin learning:

  • 1v1 attacking and defending

  • Passing fundamentals

  • Decision making with the ball

  • Small-sided gameplay

At this stage, players are building the technical foundation needed for future development.

Recreational Development Pathway

MLS GO (U10–U14)

MLS GO is our structured recreational program designed for players who want to play soccer in a fun and developmental environment.

Program features:

  • Weekly training sessions

  • Saturday recreational league games

  • Focus on skill development and teamwork

  • Accessible entry point for new players

Players can remain in MLS GO throughout their youth soccer experience or move into more competitive pathways.

Development Academy

Academy Soccer (U9–U14)

The Academy program is designed for players who are ready for more structured training and a higher level of development.

Key features include:

  • Multiple weekly training sessions

  • Focus on technical development and game understanding

  • Internal and external competition opportunities

  • Professional coaching environment

The Academy serves as a bridge between recreational soccer and competitive club soccer.

Players may move between MLS GO and Academy depending on development and interest.

Competitive Club Soccer

Club Teams (U11+)

Our Club program represents the highest competitive level within The 18th Ward soccer pathway.

Club teams:

  • Compete in the Louisiana Classic Soccer League (LCSL)

  • Train multiple times per week

  • Participate in regional tournaments

  • Emphasize tactical understanding and competitive play

Players are selected based on:

  • Commitment to development

  • Skill progression

  • Attitude and teamwork

Club soccer prepares players for high school soccer and advanced competitive opportunities.

Girls Soccer Pathway

We are committed to growing the girls' game in New Orleans.

Programs include:

  • She’s Got Game (Girls Rec Soccer)

  • Girls Academy teams

  • Future Girls Club teams

These programs are designed to create a supportive and empowering environment for girls to grow in sport.
