Expanding Opportunities: The 18th Ward’s Community Programs
At The 18th Ward, we believe that every young person deserves access to safe, fun, and inclusive spaces to learn, play, and grow. This season, our commitment to that mission has reached new heights: we have over 3,000 kids on our roster, making this our biggest and most impactful season yet.
With 41 unique programs offered, our reach spans across sports, leadership development, workforce training, and creative community-building opportunities. From basketball courts to swimming pools, from mentorship circles to workforce readiness workshops, each program is designed to meet young people where they are and help them build skills for today—and tomorrow.
Our presence extends citywide, with programming happening at 17 different locations across New Orleans. By bringing resources directly into neighborhoods, we’re able to break down barriers to participation and ensure that youth from all corners of the city can join in.
But beyond the numbers, it’s the stories that matter most: the child who learns to swim for the first time, the teen who discovers their leadership voice on the court, the young adult who transitions from coaching to a career pathway. Each one is a reminder that community programs aren’t just activities—they’re lifelines of opportunity, connection, and hope.
We are proud of the scale we’ve built, but even more proud of the community that makes it possible: parents, coaches, partners, and supporters who believe in the power of youth. Together, we are creating a stronger, more connected New Orleans—one program, one location, one child at a time.
